Investor

As CEO and Board Member of large FMCGs, I know how business-critical it is to improve the resource sustainability of the operations. However, sustainability solutions will only be widely implemented when they make business sense and address all aspects relevant to their adoption. After diligent analysis of the Keiryo Packaging project, it was apparent to me that all critical issues had been considered upfront. I therefore decided to become one of the shareholders in this startup and assist in setting out its strategic direction. The packaging industry and brand owners need innovators like Keiryo Packaging to generate meaningful improvements in both the environmental and economic sustainability of their supply chain.

Investor

As a professional investor with 25 years of experience, I have a growing interest in projects that not only generate financial return but also create a positive environmental and/or societal impact. KP’s mission, strategy and execution therefore strongly resonate with my objectives. I firmly believe KP will create value for its customers and the wider community by improving the sustainability profile of polymer-based packaging.

I consider the innovative technology extremely relevant from a sustainability perspective. It can become a game changer for the whole polymer processing industry with a positive impact on planet and profit’.

Keiryo Packaging Technologies has opened a new industrial pathway for polymer processing which consolidates the underlying academically well-grounded polymer rheology fundamentals.  The industrial application of flow-enhanced nucleation and induced crystallization offers fundamental opportunities for the polymer industry to simultaneously improve the performance and sustainability of polymer based packaging.  I am therefore very pleased to be contributing to the development of  this technology that can become a game changer for the whole polymer processing industry.

The sustainability of plastic packaging - both from an environmental and economic perspective - has become a business-criticial issue for all parties involved in the plastic packaging supply chain. Addressing both these sustainability dimensions simultaneously requires the emergence of a disruptive yet globally accessible polymer conversion technology which can be easily accommodated within the existing plastic supply chain. The technology which is being developed by Keiryo Packaging combines all the essential elements required to make this kind of transformative impact on the plastic packaging supply chain, whether in its incumbent form or along the evolution towards a fully circular supply chain. This is a great opportunity to work with KP’s Operational team, the Strategic Committee and the many external development partners, on the continued development of this technology towards its industrial realization.

As an IP and Innovation professional, I am especially attracted by the overall solution which Keiryo Packaging is seeking to advance, leveraging cutting-edge applications of academically well-grounded rheology science to push the boundaries of the conventional polymer processing technologies. KP is thereby establishing a broad range of patent positions that can be exploited further, while at the same time avoiding spiralling technology sophistication which would become cost prohibitive to implement on a global scale. The focus on bringing forward accessible and affordable value innovation is a clear differentiating factor for the KP Technology.

As a Corporate Affairs Professional, I have been managing the policy and environmental challenges of packaging producers and users for more than 15 years. This experience has given me a first-hand appreciation of the growing sustainability and profitability challenges faced by plastic packaging. The technology developed and patented by Keiryo Packaging offers unique solutions to address these challenges. Having worked with Johan during our joint spell at a large FMCG company, I know that his approach to the KP venture is sound and that he has both the expertise and the means to deliver success.
