As CEO and Board Member of large FMCGs, I know how business-critical it is to improve the resource sustainability of the operations. However, sustainability solutions will only be widely implemented when they make business sense and address all aspects relevant to their adoption. Keiryo Packaging Technologies has opened a new industrial pathway for polymer processing which consolidates the underlying academically well-grounded polymer rheology fundamentals. The industrial application of flow-enhanced nucleation and induced crystallization offers fundamental opportunities for the polymer industry to simultaneously improve the performance and sustainability of polymer based packaging. KP is thereby establishing a broad range of patent positions that can be exploited further, while at the same time avoiding spiralling technology sophistication which would become cost prohibitive to implement on a global scale.
